Hey Yall,
Quick question.  I'v made a post show matrix of mofro with CEP and am very pleased with how it sounds.  One thing that is driving me a little nuts is the cymbals sound to prominent in the mix.  Is there a way with CEP that I can reduce the cybal frequency and boost the mid-range stuff a little without making the recording sound weird?

The easiest way to do that would be to load up a parametric EQ and do a little "seek and destroy" - i.e. decrease the bandwidth and boost the gain, find the frequency that sounds the worst, then adjust it lower. 

I'm not sure of the specifics in CEP, but my guess is that there is probably an included parametric EQ plugin that you could use.

I've found that around 8,000 hrtz for the primary sound and 12,000 hrtz for the upper air to be about the right frequencies for cymbals. Try and octive and a half at around the 8,000 makrk and reduse slightly until it pleases you.

You also might try only EQ'ing the source (aud or sbd) that has the prominant cymbals before matrixing them together, I would assume its the board mix which has the cymbals prominant. This would retain the full range in the AUD source.

Not sure where the freq your trying to cut falls into . But her is where you might find the frequencies that are buggin ya

Snare.   Fatness @ 120-240Hz;  Boing @ 900Hz;  Crispness @5kHz;  Snap @10kHz
Toms.   Fullness @ 240-500Hz;  Attack @ 5-7kHz
Floor tom. Fullness @ 80-120Hz; Attack @ 5kHz
Hi Hat And Cymbals.  Clang @ 200Hz;  Sparkle @ 8-10Khz
