I recorded a show last wednesday and it came out nice imo. I tried recording from in front of the left speaker (you couldn't really call it a stack since it was a small venue) this time. The drums were also on the left side of the stage. This resulted in a recording in which the left channel has most of the guitar/vocals etc. and the right channel mainly has drums. To balance out the recording I tried to mix a bit of the left channel into the right channel. So this way the left channel would remain the same and the right channel would be a mix of the left and the right channel. The result was a recording with more centered sound and an improvement in contrast to the original recording imo.
Tho, I'm not sure if I should really do this, cause I'm figuring that applying this trick would reduce stereo effect of the recording. Also maybe (I'm not sure of this) it would make the recording lossy, since a bit of the original right channel is replaced with a bit of the left channel.
Any thoughts on if I should do this to make the final result sound better?
