You can easily tape a 2-3 hour show with the R-1 and a single set of rechargeables. I've taped 3 shows with mine so far and it's been a breeze. Easy to use, reliable, and no errors. Really clear sound too... I can't comment on the MT since I haven't used it, but I'm so happy with the R-1 that I see no reason to switch to anything else, including the upcoming R-09.
