Stand extension? (Bogen 3373)

I am looking for a highly portable way to extend my Bogen 3373 at least 3 more feet (6 would be ideal).  I am not too worried  about the stand becoming wobbly, because it can become quite stable when the legs are spread out wide and I am only mounting a couple of MK caps.
A telescoping extender that clamps over the end and folds up to the same size (or smaller) would be the best situation I can think of.  Does any know of something like this?  Anyone come up with their own solution?

I use the Bogen/Manfrotto 3109 extenstion pole.  3' collapsed > 7' extended.  Add a superclamp/stud on the end and it is a great way to run from chair arms, tables, etc without tripod legs.

I run 3/8-16 thread rod extensions in 6", 1', 2' and 3' lengths.
They are homemade and cost about $5 for a 3' extension (or less $$ ??). Cheap and easy.

Do you just thread this on the end?  Isn't there a big risk of snapping the little stud off?

breaking 3/8?
you'd have to be really heavy handed to do that, especially with actives.
1/4-20, maybe?? But 3/8-16 would be very hard to break without really trying.
And, I clamp to my stand stanchions, rather than placing things to the top of the stands.

I just bought raw thread rod from a hardware store, and several 3/8-16 thread rod connectors (look like extra long/deep nuts), and wingnuts. Put a thread rod connector on one end,,and jamnut it in place. The wingnuts jam everything together for rigidity.

The problem I've had in adding an extension to the 3373 is that the solid multi-section extensions are simply too big and beefy once the 3373 is already extended fully - even with a fully broad footprint, stability becomes an issue.  I've occasionally attached my custom 26" - 7' extension by only raising the 3373 a single section (or none) and then using my extension on top.  I assume the Bogen extension would face similar issues.

What I've done more often (and still rarely, at that) is tack on a Bogen 20" heavy duty gooseneck extension once the 3373 is fully extended.  I find I don't ever need to get up any higher than that.  Doesn't really address your 3' requirement, but FWIW...

I use actives.  I wonder if my custom extension is heavier/beefier than the Bogen extension and that's what's caused my issues.  Probably.

not sure what you mean by clamping on the side.  it just goes directly over top your 3373 stud.  the extension is on the same axis as the 3373.

O, I'm sorry, I was talking about m0k3's picture of a clamp.  So, the bogen extension works without any adapters?  I wish they made one that was a little smaller when collapsed....

Another cheap, light option is to use an Atlas extension.  Only 31", but that might be enough.  Atlas TB-58X, 31" extension ($9 at markertek.com) and Atlas AD-5B, 5/8" female-to-female coupler ($4.50).  Just use the coupler to attach the extension to your stand and you're good to go.  Probably pretty much the same thing as what Moke put together, without the DIY and need to raid your hardware store.
