Topic: newb help with njb3 transfer of .wav files

Hey all,
 So I went to tape my friends band earlier this week with my new mics and to get some practice and the recording came out decent... need to work on those levels. confusing.
 Now i'm sitting at my computer trying to transfer the recording to the comp. through nomad explorer and i keep getting an error message saying "access to the file is denied".  What am I doing wrong?
 I tried connecting usb and firewire. restarted. rebooted reset and still the same error message. Grr! any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Hi Mike,
I have this same problem - have you been able to fix it? I have the latest firmware, drivers, NotMad software - the whole shabang. I, too, only have this prob. with large files (hour(s) long .wavs etc).
Hope to hear back (either from you, or somebody with a solution). One thing I have read is to transfer w/ battery only, but that, too, doesn't make a difference.

Ok here's what I would like you to do. Please go to the nearest hardware store and purchase a 20lb sledge hammer the one with the flat ends. Then I want you to find a flat surface like a concrete floor and place the JB3 neatly on a towel place the towel  on the floor, ( the towel is  so the floor does not scratch your JB3) Then I want you to pick up the new sledge hammer and strike the play button with the hammer as hard as you can. This is a creative labs help center tip now once you have hit the play button, please plug your updated JB3 back into it's ac adaptor, then submerge it an ice cold tub of water. After your done with its bath, take it and dry it off with the towel that you used to hold on the bits together from the play button adjustment. Your players firmware and hardware as been updated to the latest known version. V1.02990000MMM99LL0088
Now you can enjoy your new dynamic range and never heard before noise floor of over -00 dBa you will notice file transfer is no longer an issue with this update and all your recording problems, computer sync problems, and last but not least the battery life issue is also fixed.

I think you need to check the flux capacitor for a build up of charge in the 90 nano second range. I would also take a look at the Tricorder and check to make sure its picking up planet xenon properly.


Just kidding of course you have already check the flux cap that's the first thing. I would try new drivers but make sure the old ones are uninstalled I would also try a different computer; A friend of mine had the same problem. It was his USB ports, it would seem there are compatibility issues with the JB3 and some USB chipsets.. I was also told not to bother with USB and install a fire wire card. I think that’s a good idea. I have fire wire on my computer and it works great with the JB3.

Worst case scenario you should be able to hook up the jb3 to your line in on your computer via 1/8th -1/8th and play it into something like Soundforge. I know it adds a generation of analog to the process, and it is a real time 1x transfer, but since the tape wasnt pristine in the first place it should sound fine. Certinally not the propper way to do a transfer, but it will get the music onto your hard drive so you can start working with it.
