Hi guys, I'm looking for some help in setting up my recording rig.
I bought an iriver H120 and installed rockbox on it.
I also bought this microphone/preamp kit from church audio on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260025514785What I'd like to do is buy one of those pelican type cases and cut some foam to fit both the recorder and the preamp inside. Then I'd like to have holes in the side so that the iriver remote and the microphones could come out with the mics fastened on the outside of the case and the remote dangling free to be manipulated.
It'd need to be a case I could attach a strap to so that I could hang it around my neck or on a tree or something.
What I want to use this for is recording my samba drum group practicing, and the place where we do it my options are pretty much either set the recorder on the ground, or hang it from a tree or around someones neck, or setting it on a table near by.
Questions I have that I was hoping you could help with:
1. Do you know of a good size case for doing this?
2. Any suggestions on how to fasten the microphones to the outside of the case? I was thinking of just attaching a flat piece of plastic to it with epoxy so I could pull out the mics and attach them to it using the alligator clips. Any better ideas? How much of a difference will the positioning of these mics make? Do they need to be pointed in the right direction?
3. Does this seem like a dumb idea? Any other suggestions?
I'm pretty much a noob at this so sorry for any stupid questions.
