I have the Soundman OKMII Rx "Rock" mics. According to the instruction manual, they will take up to 10V of normal powering.
From the
dacs-audio.com in the OKM FAQ section:
"Q: Can I use Phantom Power with the mics?
A: No. Phantom Power will damage the mic. If you do require the mic to plug into a phantom power device, we recommend our
PPA Phantom Power Adapter, which converts the 48V Phantom Power into 7.5V for use with the mics, whilst giving a much better signal to noise ratio."
Basically, what that PPA Phantom Power Adaptor does is take the 48V phantom power and convert it to a lower voltage (probably around 9V) so the mics don't get fried by the high voltage. The PPA Phantom Power Adaptor also provides the mini-plug input and XLR outputs needed to interface a phantom power supply with the mics.
Dumb side question, but where can you buy the OKMs without the A3 module?
