Mic to use with the S-PASM2
« on: October 11, 2006, 06:24:20 PM »
Hi,

replaced my stolen Sound Professionals S-PASM-2 integrated Preamp/Stereo mic with yet another, since the format is so convenient. Thought I'd get the latest here on which kind of external stereo mini mic (that would plug into the S-PASMs preamp) that can be positioned further apart in the stereo field, would be a good and affordable match for my box.
I'm still having the same troubles with this S-PASM2 as with the one I owned before, namely that at a suitable gain/sensitivity setting for recording , say, a string quartet, the tolerance for double bass is very low before distorting.
Another question- shopping for such mini cardioid stereo mics, there's a lot of talk about battery boxes improving the performance of these mics (bass roll off etc). Does my S-PASM-2 perform the chores of such a battery box, besides lifting the signal through preamplification?

Thanks
Delgado

Yes that preamp does power your mics as well as any battery box would. I can if you wish sell you a pair of my cardioid mics I have two pairs left I have a sale going on for $69.99 + shipping $12.00 for slow shipping 3-4 weeks  $18.00 for fast shipping 5-10 day Both shipping methods use tracking and have full insurance. Pm me if you are interested I prefer paypal for payment. If you do not want to check my mics out keep looking at the yard sale there are plenty of used mics for sale here on T.S from other members.
