Notmad Explorer
« on: October 22, 2006, 10:51:37 AM »
I have had an issue with moving files from my JB3 to my pc.  I have six pc's including my work PC.  On my work PC everything is fine with the Creative Explorer.  On the other five machines it won't work at all.  All machines are Windows XP Pro SP2.  I'm transferring by USB....Let not start the firewire debate, that will be the next issue I solve.

So.....I decide to just go out and buy Notmad Explorer.  I install it on two of my machines, it see and connects to the JB3 perfectly.  I'm able to change files names....no problem.....so I'm thinking great issue solved.  I then go and transfer a file which is about 300MB, and it transfers in about 2 seconds.  Knowing this can't be...I look at the file and it is zero bytes.  So I try it on the other five machines in the house and exactly the same thing.  I don't want Notmad on my work machine because it works fine with Creative Explorer...but I really need to have this work on one of my machines.

Is there some type of issue with XP Pro, Notmad, or what??

I'm thinking more and more of dumping the JB3, and getting a MicroTrack........ ::)

What version are you using?

if that's not what you are talking about give it a shot.  it's free and I've never had any issues with it on either of my machines.  I also use firewire though ;)

I'm talking about Nomad Explorer....it works on my work machine just fine.   I tried it on 4 other machines and it will not work.  All machines are XP Pro, and I did for the heck of it try it on a W2K box, and the same problems.

I tried the other software and same issue....

I'd really like to get Notmad to work since I paid for it......I sent in a TS bulletin, so hopefully there will be an answer.

Maybe it's an issue with the driver??

Ok...here is where I start getting confused...(drivers)   ???

On the machine at work, that everything is fine the drivers is:  1.20.04c , I installed once, and it has worked like a gem ever since. (Nomad Explorer)

That driver is on two other machines at home, and they don't work.  I have tried the unisnstalling and reinstalling many, many times. (Nomad and Notmad Explorer)

On another machine, I put on a driver 2.0 something.  I read from an article on TS that you need this driver.  Same issue with though.

On Nomad Explorer it will start a transfer then about 10 seconds later, it say it cannot connect to that file.

On Notmad, it will transfer a zero byte length file.  This is with either driver.

I don't have Creative Play Center....how do you get it?

The upgrade on the Creative site won't work without the prior version installed..
