CD Text
« on: March 15, 2007, 09:48:22 AM »
OK..I'm starting to get pissed and I'm determined to get this CD Text thing correct.

I create Cue Sheets to burn my disks.  I just used on to burn a disk.  In Windows Media player it doesn't read the text.  I started up CDex a ripping package and it reads the text perfectly.  Winamp doesn't read it.  I use EAC, but thought there was an issue so I just burned with Nero, and the same results.  How the hell can I get CD text to read in all the packages I use...especally my car stereo.  Here is the cue sheet:

TITLE "HATE - Daily Double - March 10, 2007"
PERFORMER "HATE"
FILE "C:\music\HATEmas.wav" WAVE
TRACK 01 AUDIO
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TITLE "The Dungeon"
TRACK 02 AUDIO
INDEX 01 03:16:10
TITLE "Abashed"
TRACK 03 AUDIO
INDEX 01 07:17:04
TITLE "Trial To Lunacy"
TRACK 04 AUDIO
INDEX 01 14:09:04
TITLE "Thunder And Steel"
TRACK 05 AUDIO
INDEX 01 18:18:12
TITLE "Survive"
TRACK 06 AUDIO
INDEX 01 22:54:07
TITLE "Skitzo"
TRACK 07 AUDIO
INDEX 01 26:53:07
TITLE "LOVE Machine"
TRACK 08 AUDIO
INDEX 01 31:32:02
TITLE "Top Of The Chain"
TRACK 09 AUDIO
INDEX 01 35:34:01
TITLE "Metal Forever"

I have no idea what the issue is....any idea's??

BTW, all my burners have the ability to burn CD Text...EAC confirms this, as does the burner spec's

Windows media player never reads CD text. It instead fetches the song list from a database. If your computer is on-line it will do a search over the internet towards the database. Last entries are saved locally.

You may seed the database from the Media player (it is somewhat hidden in the menues). Just know that iTunes uses a different database, and there are probably more.

Using Windows media player was just a test...I usually use something called the Quientisental Player which I like.....now that also does a database search...so that would be an issue....

The whole deal is that EAC sees, and labels the tracks from the cue sheet, same as Nero....the thing I want is my car stereo....it's a Pioneer DEH-P3100 that does support CD-Text....I'm wondering if there are different standards per manufacturer???

I have the same issue.  If I burn a disc with my desktop it will write and read the CD text no problem.  However, if i put the disc in my laptop and burn it the cd text burns fine and Nero shows that it has CD text but neither Sure Thing CD labeling software or dbpoweramp will read the txt.  Its very strange, ive looked for a firmware update but there is none.  My laptop is only 3 months old and should read everything just fine.
