According to this FAQ, very little memory effect with NiHM batteries.

i still cycle my 7.2v NIMH RC batts every 6 months or so. it has kept them fresh and at maximum capacity for 2+ years now

never had that problem & i've done 40 shows recharging after & before on the same 2 sets .. that was a bad cell ..
