Salvaging a wav File With Errors
« on: May 27, 2007, 07:19:01 PM »
I recorded a show using an iriver h120, but when i listen back, it shows that the file is 2 hrs long (length of the show), but it will only play back the first 2:40.  it just stops playing.  when i look in the iriver folder, it shows that the file is 1.24 gigs, so it seems like the info is there- i just cant copy it: computer gives me a CRC error message.  is there any way to salvage at least part of this file?  Help!

thanks

b

I had this happen to me and I managed to repair the file somehow using info from here or the mysticriver site. I'd do a search on both for "cyclic redundancy check" or "crc".

I think the fault occurs because of bad sectors on your iRiver's hard drive, so you might consider replacing it or (if possible) partitioning it so that the bad sectors are not used.

Sorry for the vague information but the detailed instructions are out there...
