Mastering Help?
« on: June 15, 2007, 03:34:12 PM »
Anyone know how to correct a levels fading in from soft to loud when doing initial recording adjustment in Cool Edit Pro or Adobe Audition?

My levels were set too low when the band came out and i quickly adjusted them about 8 dB hotter to get them where i like 'em.  I am wondering if there is a way to adjust the beginning part to sound like the rest of the recording without a sudden jump up in volume?

Hopefully that makes sense?

Any info appreciated!  ;D

If I'm understanding you correctly, can't you just hilight the beginning part and amplify it by 8 dB to match the rest?

No because if I do that it will start out at the desired volume...but since the original faded in to a higher volume...the end part of the fade would be 8 dB hotter than the rest of the recording.  Does that make sense?

I think I need to do something with panning the wave file, but I've never done that and am not even sure if that is the correct thing to do?  ???
