I am getting this error occasionally in utorrent 1.6. Can someone tell me what the cause/solution is?
Sorry about the misplacement.

CRC Error stands for cyclic redundancy check.
Basically a cyclic redundancy check is a mathematical formula to ensure that the data you are transferring is OK. If you get this error it typically means that your file(s) or at least pieces of them are corrupted. uTorrent should see the corrupted data and re request it, typically from another source in the torrent. So it should be self correcting in the case of uTorrent.

yeah, utorrent does a 100% file verification before it finishes the d/l, so something is def corrupted, just not sure how/where/why?

If you are getting the error while uTorrent downloads it will automatically correct the issue via hashes and most likely download from another source.
That being said if you are not downlaoding public domain stuff. The RIAA has servers that send you bad data on purpose in order to make your download slower. It will mess with you as much as possibile. It will send bogus hash data that will require you to redownlaod alot of parts.
Stay Kind,
Dana
