R-09 questions
« on: July 19, 2007, 12:21:50 AM »
OK, since I'm blind, and am memorizing the menus and their options, can I varify with you fine people thatthe menu structure and options are as follows?  By the way, thanks Edirol/Roland for not making the menus wrap-around type, and not nesting them inside each otherseveral layers deep.  A little memorizing, and I'l be fine with this recorder - not so for the Microtrak I'm trying to sell. Also, the controls feel solid, or at least more predictable than that silly NAV-wheel on the Microtrack. (misgivings about battery door, but few people report any problems with it)

In the list that follows, I numbered the main menu items, lettered the sub-menu items, and hopefully I have the available choices for each item listed correctly from left to right, in parentheses.
Additions/corrections welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Edirol R-09 Menus, Firmware 1.20

1. Recorder Setup
A. Sampling Frequency (44.1, 48)
B. Bit Rate (64, 96, 128, 192, 256, 320, 16, 24)
C. Max File Size (64, 128, 256, 512, 1GB, 2GB)

2. Player Setup
A. Player Mode (Sequential, Shuffle)
B. Repeat (off, on)

3. Display Setup
A. Brightness (1, 2, 3, etc. 10))
B. Display Timer (off, on)
C. Peak Hold (off, on)
D. Rec/Peak LED (Normal, Power Save)

      4. Power manager
A. Auto-power (off, 5m, 10m, 15m, 30m, 45m, 60m)
B. Battery (alkaline, NiMH)

5. Input Setup
A. Record Monitor (off, on)
B. Plug-in Power (off, on)

6. Date and Time
(I'm avoiding this one even though the manual says it's important. I'll time/date stamp files on the computerafter, if I need to.

7. SD Card
A. Information
B. Format (REC to confirm operation)

8. Factory Reset (REC to confirm operation)

Two unrelated R-09 questions: If you can't recharge NiMH cells inside the unit, why is there a menu item for specifying battery type? Do alkalines and NiMH's really differ that much during their discharge cycle?

and,

Under what conditions have you folks noticed your settings being reset? I assume settings hold if you swap out the SD card or batteries quickly. Is installing new Firmware about the only time - unless you leave the R-09 in a drawer for a month - that things will reset back to factory defaults?

I am running 1.2 in mine as well. i went thru my menu and came up with the following differences;

Under recorder set up mine has the following bit rate options:

B. Bit Rate (64, 96, 128, 160,192, 224, 320, 16, 24)

**My display set up is in the this order:

3. Display Setup
A. Brightness (1, 2, 3, etc. 10))
B. Peak Hold (off, on)
C. Display Timer (off, on)
D. Rec/Peak LED (Normal, Power Save)

**Under power manage I have slightly differnt time auto-power selections;

A. Auto-power (off,  3m, 5m, 10m, 15m, 30m, 45m, 60m)

**Under SD Card;

B. Format (REC to confirm operation) Must select "Yes" before hitting REC (right arrow)

Other than that I think you got it.

As far as the selection for the Ni-MH battery, I believe it is for the battery life indicator.

The only time my settings have been reset was when I installed the new firmware. Mine really doesn't sit idle for more than a week so I don't know if it eventually resets over time or not

Hope this helps.

Jamie

Oops I missed a couple, under Player Setup I have;

A. Player Mode (Single, Sequential, Shuffle)

And, under Display Timer I have these options;

C. Display Timer (off, 2sec, 5sec, 10sec, 20sec)

I think that's it.  ;D

I think the difference is in the way they "report" their remaining life rather than how they discharge.
