Could this adapter be used to send data from R-4 to an external HD?

Wondering if you plug this card into the CF slot and then use the CF utility if one could empty the R-4's internal HD to an external HD without the use of a computer.

any thoughts?

It makes sense to me.....Looks like it would work in theory at least.....

....but I'm new and not very knowledgeable of such things....

First that won't work it's pcmcia.  Second CF and IDE are compatible with the right adapter so it is possible.  The problem I foresee is getting power to the hard drive.   What you need is something like this http://www.esskabel.de/English-Site/products/adapters/CompactFlash/ADA-COMPACTFLASH-ATA-IDE40/ADA-COMPACTFLASH-ATA-IDE40-haupt.htm
