jb3 recording recovery
« on: August 06, 2007, 05:48:30 PM »
Hey Folks,
Is there any way to recover a recording that didn't get properly
saved on a Nomad JB3?
The batteries died at some point near the end of a roughly two-hour
recording session, so it does not appear on the file list. At least
part of the recording has to be there, somewhere... does anyone know
a way to find and recover it? Since the JB3 doesn't appear as a drive
on the computer, typical file recovery programs aren't likely to be
of help...
Thanks!
John

I don't have a JB3. Is there any way to take the drive out and put it into something else?

Curious how do you go into rescue mode?

Nevermind search is my friend.

1. Remove the battery or press the reset button.
2. Either while reinserting the battery or after reset ensure that the stop button is held down.
3. As soon as the 'Creative' logo appears on the screen during the boot sequence, release the stop button. Immediately press and release the play button. The unit should boot to a diagnostics mode with several recovery options.

you should be doing this to format the drive instead of just deleting the files ;)

I've never done this until now. :P  I've used this JB3 since 03. Back when DAT was the norm.

Never had a problem till until 6-29-07 I had 2 sets disappear. Just did the clean up & they popped up.

I was talking more about formating.  damn so in 4 years you have never reformatted??  just deleted??  the only times I've gotten pops etc were when the drive had a bunch of stuff deleted and wasn't formated.  since then as soon as it's on the hardrive and checked for errors I format and do a disc clean up.  I think of it like a defragment for the hardrive since you can't actually defragment.

Yep never reformatted just deleted. Going to clear it off & give it a reformat.

no need to delete first.  reformat will clear everything off.

Exactly - compare the amount of HD activity when deleting versus reformat...I always fill my JB3s up and then reformat...
