encryption using azureus
« on: October 24, 2007, 09:53:12 AM »
ive read that to enable encryption i got to tool> options> connection> and check the transport w/ encryption.   my problem is that the copy ive set-up doesnt have that option under connections, and neither does any new version ive DL and set-up.  WTF?  anyone help here?  my whole issue is the fact that comcast is killing my uploads, and im the primary seeder to start these Bt's.  otherwise im able to upload while downloading....but i guess we all know how this ends........ >:(

Maybe you need to revert to the expert setting that opens up more options for azureus. I've been thinking about this too.

Yes, you do need to switch to advanced settings.  I think it is under Tools>Configuration Wizard.  Check advanced, and it will tell you whether you need to restart or not.  Then go to Connection>Transport Encryption and select "Require encrypted transport" and set the level at "RC4."  If you are doing this as an attempt to bypass Cumblast's blocking of bt traffic, it probably won't work.  It seems like utorrent works a little better at this.  Good luck.

Get rid of azureus and use utorrent instead.  I switched recently because of the new version of azureus.  It's really nice to have an app that only uses about 1.5MB RAM instead of 180MB.

Then go to Connection>Transport Encryption and select "Require encrypted transport" and set the level at "RC4."

So does this work for people? Does it need another setting enabled or disabled? I tried it and I can't connect well to anything. I get super slow speeds if anything at all and only intermittent connections. On the trackers I show as connectable, I am not NAT stuck or firewalled but I get only yellow faces. Some trackers won't let me connect at all. Thanks for any info.

I've been using the encrpytion for a long time...  Doesn't do a thing for me.  My stuff was choked worse than ever today. I couldn't even upload while I was downloading.  In the past it would stop uploading once I'd completing downloading but not anymore.....
