flac24 problems

When tracking all my 24bit wavs in cdwav I never checked the "use alt. 24 bit format" box. I'm now unable to encode anything. Would upgrading my version which 1.7.1 etree edition help with this? The SB box in flac frontend in unchecked.

One solution is to re open each wav in cdwav and re save with the box checked, but I thought I read on the board that a newer flac version might do it.

Also, in the newer versions of frontend, you shouldnt check the 'alt saving' box. It doesnt matter either way, but if you DO check the box in the newest versions, it will have a weird message in frontend(Bits Per Sample=24). However, if you do not check the box in cdwave, you wont have that weird message. Like I said tho, it doesnt matter either way.

Absolutely NOT!  I've been struggling with that for awhile now.  For anyone that doesn't know what this is all about, 24bit FLACs that are encoded in the latter builds of the FLAC encoder software will not properly derive in the LMA deriver, therefore, these files will not pass through the deriver checks.  16bit files work fine when compiled with version 1.2.1, but 24bit will result in an error message since the deriver will not derive the 24bit files correctly.  In addition, your 24bit files will not be available for upload until you delete the files compiled in the later FLAC builds and upload FLACs that are made from earlier builds.

Personally, since I upload alot of my shows to archive, I'd rather avoid version 1.2.1 altogether and stick with version 1.1.2.

while it's true that the archive has not yet updated their FLAC support for v1.2.1, no need to back track all the way to v1.1.2.  Version 1.1.4 is still compatible with the archive, and you'll get better compression ratios relative to v1.1.2
