Is it possible to make a telephone patch cable?

Is it possible to make a patch cable that works like this:

I don't think you want to split a POTS line cable directly into your recorder line input.  Ring voltage is around 90Vrms.  That suction cup microphone from RS is a safer solution.

Do you just need one for a short time? I can lend you a THAT-1 for a few weeks if you don't need to keep it forever.

Thanks for the offer, i dont even need it yet... me and some friends are working on getting a pirate radio station going and once its up i'd like to a weekly or monthly "radio open mic" where people could call in and play a song or read something etc. It will probably be at least a month before we can go on the air.
