Hey guys, I need some assistance! I taped my first show in almost 7 years using my new Edirol R-09 with AT853 mics and a SoundPro battery box, with no bass roll off. Problem is, it sounds terrible! Well, the worst part is the bass is so excessive that it sounds distorted and has a vibratory sound when I listen to it. I've tried EQ'ing it with Sound Forge but no matter how I try to reduce bass while boosting other frequencies (and I tried dozens of different patterns) it still sounds distorted with a vibrating/humming quality to it.
For those good at post-recording mastering, is it likely I can salvage this recording to make it sound decent? I have Sound Forge and Izotope so any suggestions using those apps would be appreciated. Thanks!
http://www.mediafire.com/?4ostznmhjgkedit: another odd thing is that I used this same battery box without bass rolloff back in 2001 for several loud rock/hip hop shows (U2, black crowes, pharycyde) using the same AT853 mics and a Sharp MD recorder, and never had this problem.
