If you know the 1st hotel you are booked into I am sure the hotel would accept a box for you, so that way you can get the R09 as soon as you check in... bring a SD card with you (assuming they are cheap where you can get one now)

Thanks lads. Yis are great. Feel free to keep on with the advice  ;D

The R09 is VERY user-friendly.  I think I'd go a step further and say if you bought one at the show you'd figure it out in under five minutes (not that you can buy one at the show).  The thing is VERY idiot proof compared to any other device I've worked with.

SDHC cards are pretty cheap in America right now (I'm in Canada, and we're paying under $30 for an 8GB Class 6 SDHC card).  Everything I've read says CLASS 2 and higher are fine for the R09.

If you picked up two 8GB (around 13.5 hours PER card at 44.1/16), you'd probably have enough room for the shows (barely), so I'd recommend picking up a third card if you want to travel light.  You might want to record at 48/24 which is the preferred rate these days but you drop to 8.25 hours PER card if you do this.

Enjoy the shows.
