Stereo setup for Røde NT1-A pair?
« on: August 09, 2008, 01:57:48 PM »
Is there an easy to set up the Røde NT1-A as a stereo pair with not-hard-to-get accessories?

Could I use a XY mount on a microphone table stand, for instance? Any suggestions?

ORTF on a normal stereo bar will be your best bet (a stereo bar can be had cheap at any music store).  you dont want to set up the mics on a tabletop however - you will get wierd early reflections off the table surface.  the mics should be around 6 feet up in the air, and if possible, around 6-8 feet out from the source (if acoustic music), or 10-12 feet out in front of an amplified group.

The easy way is to use 2 normal stands with booms and position them as required :)

BTW: This site has lots of DIY ideas...

True. :)

However, I was hoping I could avoid dragging stands through the field, so I'll pass for now. ;)

Yes, I noticed that one through some googling. So far in life my attemps at DIY have sucked badly, but maybe this is the time to try again. Ahem.

The NT1-A recordings are excellent too...I gotta make me a rig like that (one day)...but it is a bulky solution....but attracted by the low self noise ::)

BTW: This was great, Zepplins from car-wash mitts :)

Yeah, I had already done that.  I play with the web addresses to see where I can get on the remote box.  Really good site.  Thanks again.
