Topic: ISO Nak windscreens

At Wanee last weekend it was pretty windy... I was using the stock plastic "mosquito netting" windscreens and I got a lot of noise.  I enabled the bass rolloff on the mic and the noise went away, along with much of my bottom end.

So I'm looking for some decent foam windscreens which will fit Nak CM300 with standard card/omni caps.   Or other tricks of the trade.

The stock windscreens are worthless.  They're not even windscreens but rather "pop" filters for vocals. 

I've had good results with the Windtech 1200 series screens.  I use 'em in clubs and theaters, and have a pair of dead rats for heavy wind or outdoor shows.  They're pretty cheap too.  http://www.olsenaudio.com/general.html

You can kinda turn those stock NAK pop-filters into mini-zeppelins by adding a windscreen made for a SM58 type vocal mic...

The big DPA (U0896) and Shures (A81WS) fit the Nak 100/300s and are good for outdoors. The Windtechs are good for light to moderate breezes outside and ceiling fans and ventilation systems indoors. The dead rats should take care of most winds up to gale force. If not using dead rats, the Shures offer a little better protection than the DPAs.

I ended up with Windtech 1200's.  They are pretty cheap (something like $6 each), and are good for moderate breeze.  I made some homebrew dead rats for really windy times.

The big shures are probably better, but they are kinda pricey.

I have the 1200's and seem to pick up some muffling noises for the STIFF breeze. I will likely try the shures.  i have hung my Hawaiian shirt if front of the 1200's with ok results but..........
