Adapter question

I have one of these:

and am trying to thread the 3/8" male end into a 3/8"  female end.  It only gets 1-2 threads in and is tight.

When I measured the adapter, it is actually slightly smaller than 3/8".

Is there another adapter out there I could try?

My suggestion... find a buddy with a 3/8-16 tap (as in tap and die set) and chase the thread.  They probably machined it, then plated it.

If it's a matter of the threading not being quite large enough and you don't have a friend with a tap & die set and you have the time for shipping, I would suggest these adapters:

Just picked up a few the other day and the size is spot on, interior and exterior.  Or, am I not reading the question correctly as we're talking about a 3/8" to 5/8" adapter?

The male end on the connector you posted to is 5/8" not 3/8".

It seems as if you're talking about the male side of the adapter you linked to, correct?

I use the same one to go from t-bar~> riser~> Shockmount with no issues.

What are you using it for?

Chase the threads on both the mail and female ends.  There is probably a small burr somewhere.  If you don't have it done by Mule, i'll bring it along -or- I can mail you the tap and die.

I took off the nut holding the T-bar to expose the 3/8" male thread.  I was thinking on putting a Shure vert bar on the top to run a second pair of mics.  The Shure vert bar with the 3/8" adapter is only accepting 1-2 threads and then it gets stuck.

I'll try and find someone to chase it. Mako, perhaps I'll take you up on your offer at Mule.
