DIY Coincident Bar (XY, Blumlein, Mid-Side) *New Design Added*
« on: September 21, 2008, 05:35:40 PM »
5" Hollow aluminum pole w/ 3/8" internal diameter with a 1/4" drill hole.
2 ea. 3" 3/8" bolts chopped
1/4" bolt
1/4" > 3/8" coupler
All from Assorted Hardware stores.
All bonded together with my a combo of JB weld & Super Glue.
3/8" Male > 5/8" Female adapter to attach to windtech clamp
2 3/8" nuts used to lock on shock mounts. (Got mine from mic stand parts, You can use wing-nuts)

It's all very secure and strong and doesn't take up as much of a footprint as using 2 windtech clamps.

Nice work!  I love DIY stuff.  Yours seems quite workmanlike.

Nice DIY job. The only advantage I can see to two windtech clamps is the center of gravity is closer to the stand and may make the stand a bit less likely to tip when fully extended. If you have the stand staked, then no worries.

I agree with keeping the center of gravity when running on a stand.

I bulit this bar to used exclusively stage lip, on-stage.....

or clamped to a balcony or pipe.

The only exception would be to counter balance it with another set of mics like this......

I need to build a new bar to space the mics a little better with the screens, as you can see in the clamp picture.

Worked out a new design to keep the mics closer to the stand for a better center of gravity and to minimize possible tipping.
