Where to buy recording gear in New Orleans?
« on: January 15, 2009, 04:06:23 PM »
I'm visiting New Orleans this week and was wondering where I might go find some used taping gear. I went to the Music Exchange on Magazine, and they have some new stuff that is a bit overpriced. Anyone have other suggestions?

Thanks!

Is there a "Guitar Center" close? They don't have a great selection of mics, but they do usually carry numerous different recording decks s(olympus, edirol,MTs,ect),cables and stands

I guess you're asking because you need the equipment immediately, but for what it's worth there's no better place to buy used gear than the yard sale here. Good prices and a lot of the stuff couldn't even be found in a store. Usually arrives within a week too if you pay by PayPal.
AT853's (all caps)/CM-300 Franken Naks (CP-1,2,3)/JBMod Nak 700's (CP-701,702) > Tascam DR-680
Or Sonic Studios DSM-6 > M10

QFT.
But I understand antsyashley might have been looking for either a H2 or a DR-1, and there were none for sale at the YS. It doesn't hurt to put out a "wanted ad" there though.

Otherwise ebay as a last resort. You can filter by distance if you're picky about location...

On second thoughts, for gear this cheap it's hardly worth chasing a few dollars buying it used. The H2 is retailing for $130 if you use google shopping, the DR-1 for $199.

I am in New Orleans do you need some equipment while you are here, or do you live here?
