FLAC 96K

Anyone have issues flacing 24/96k files?  I seem to be able to do 24/48's but not 96's?

1.7, I'll see what the latest version is and re-download.

1.7 must be the version of the Frontend GUI.  that's not what is important.  What is the actual version of the FLAC compression.  if you are using FLAC Frontend, the little DOS window that pops up while encoding will tell you which version of FLAC you have.  The latest version of FLAC is v1.2.1

Possibly is the wav header messed up? Maybe FLAC can't determine the sampling rate, #of bits, # of channels .



Can you open the files with other audio apps? Will they play?

I think you have to uncheck the "Align on sector Boundaries" box

I'm not sure if this is related, but I was tracking some shows in 24/96 and trying to convert from flac to wav so I could add in fades and splice cut songs together and Trader's Little Helper could not convert the files. I've used TLH forever and couldn't understand it. So I looked up TLH on the web and found a new version from (I think) June of 2008 and upgraded. No problems now! I had version 1.something.something and now have version 2.something.something.

older versions needed to use "lax" mode to force processing of some sampling rates.  the newest version does not

This is the first thing I thought.  What are you using to process your shows?  IIRC in wavelab I had to check something like "save in alternate format" for 2496 WAVs or flac wouldn't like the files.  The files directly off the 722 have always been fine.

i thought it was cd wave editor, not wavelab, that gave you the "save in alternate 24 bit format" option...that's where i've always had problems with 24bit files and FLAC - the way cd wave editor saves them if you don't check that box.

I think you're right.  I knew it was one of those but I've been using samplitude so long I've forgotten.
