NJB3 not recognized by my computer
« on: April 13, 2009, 06:20:54 PM »
From the NJB3 FAQ:

[260] I'm having connectivity and/or transfer problems.  Help!!

Go to Creative's Knowledgebase (http://us.creative.com//support/kb/), key "SID 8763" in the search field (without the quotes), and follow the instructions.  Hopefully that'll take care of it.  If not - give us a try in the TS.com Ask The Tapers forum or the NJB3Tapers Yahoo group.

This could stand to be updated in the FAQ...the link leads to Creative Support, with no option for the NJB3.

I took my gear to my girlfriend's and loaded the Creative Center on her computer and transferred some recordings. Came home, plugged the NJB3 into my computer and the NJB3 is not recognized. I've reinstalled it, twice. The computer doesn't recognize my other NJB3's either.

I'm just hoping I don't go to my gf's and find that computer won't recognize me now

I had a JB3 for a short time, and I had that same problem..... the software that came with it was way out of date, so I ended up having to call them, and they talked me through downloading the current drivers that I needed, there were specific ones the guy said I needed....... of course, this was a few years ago.... at this point, I can't remember what it was I did to get it working, but calling them might be an option for you if someone here can't help.....

I have a JB3 with touchy software also. Most of the time I have to use USB to transfer. One of the "tricks" that I've found when the computer stops recognizing mine is to turn off the JB3, take out the batteries (or at least pull them off the connections), reinsert them and then reconnect the JB3 to the computer. Not sure why it works, but it does. Don't know if that will help, but I thought I'd mention it.

I had this issue a few years back with my JB3.  On some machines it work work.  Others it wouldn't no matter how many times I installed the software.  I had two or three different drivers and they didn't work either.  I used the alternative software, Notmad and had issues as well.

It's the main reason I sold the NJB3 for $50 on ebay.  I bought three irivers and never looked back.  I would never buy a recorder that didn't work by just plugging in the USB plug.

Hopefully you get your to work.  If you need drivers PM me, I may have some of the old drivers burnt to backup disks in storage.

yep, gotta love proprietary software, especially when it's not working!  >:(

Last time I had to re-load the JB3 software on a new machine everything I found was here, and it worked for me   http://www.taperssection.com/reference/software/jb3/

YMMV however.......
