Just your MT instead when that happens. Move the digital out cable from your DAT machine over to the digital in on the MT, and you should be able to write the wave to the CF card just fine, no copy protection.
I never liked the idea of hauling my big rack mounted DAT machines out of the family room where the stereo system is located, and cramming it into my office somewhere so I can transfer DATs and criple the computer for doing much else while tape is being copied. I have loved the freedom of using my old PMD670 as a transfer tool. It sits out on top of my SV3700 permanently now, and all I have to do is carry CF cards back and forth and dump the waves to a HDD in minutes rather than hours.
