Edirol R-09HR - Tascam DR-07 - differences?
« on: August 16, 2009, 01:29:37 AM »
what are the mayor differences, how do they compare?
or rather..looking at their resp. prices, what are the mayor disadvantages of the Tascam?

- sorry - I know that I should research myself, but it has been a while since I came here or was active recording, but just now I received this special offer from the Soundpros for the Tascam, only valid for one day! and..it is tempting.
So I checked here and was surprised that there hardly are threads about the Tascam  but so many about the Edirol

thank you for any input,
cheers,
Andreas

Everything you do through out the day, every thought and every feeling leaves an impression stored inside you.
These impressions create tendencies, their sum total is your character.

Not familiar with the DR 07, but this thread may help!  The R09HR is more commonly used by tapers.

Higher noise floor than the R-09HR.

Well, the DR-07 has only been on the market for barely 5 months, while the Edirol has been out for a year or two. You can partly chalk it up to the first mover advantage. When the R-09HR came out, it was the first stealthable sub-$400 digital recorder that had no major flaws, a really low noise floor and the possibility to be ran without external pre with decent results.
A lot of tapers bought it and demand was gradually saturated. Subsequent offerings on the market have had a tougher time to break thru, since tapers rather stick to a model with known good track record, than try something new.
