My cheap walmart purchased Rapala fishing tackle bag (that some have chuckled at) is still carrying my rig around for me, something like 6 or 7 years later. I paid something like $15 for it (but I noticed the price has increased).
All the zippers still work, no tears, hardly even looks worn.

x2

There's a ton of variety out there if you start looking around too. And some really well made bags as well.

Pockets full of nickels and nothing left to eat, and I'm stuck behind a semi on Soniat Street.

I've run the gammut on gear bags and I've come full circle back to the Nova 4.  Personally, I don't see myself going back to more expensive bags.

First, the fancy bags are really great but a common bitch I had about them is none of the bags with snorkels truly seals the bag up.  You always have to pay attention to whether the snorkels have crept open and that was constantly a worry to me because I had a vision that my $3K investment in mics would someday slip out of the bottom of my bag out one of those goddam snorkels.
I was walking down the street in Louisville this spring, when I hear something drop behind me on the pavement. I look back and there is one of my Schoeps cmc bodies bouncing off the pavement. Damn thing came out that hole you are talking about. No damage that I can hear or see. It won't happen again, I hope, but definitely something to think about.

Figure I'll join in this thread...I'm actually downsizing. Old rig was V2>ADC-20>D8 with two Eco-Charges but now it'll be V3>Microtrack with a DVD battery, so much less room to take up. Vert bar, AT8410 shocks, Rowi clamp, AKG bar and flashlight are basically the only other sizeable items in there I can think of.

I've got a Quantaray bag right now, I think it's this one: http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/tech4less/H902

It's about 4 inches wider than the Nova 5, if you're interested I can take pictures once I get a new bag...any recommendations?

SICK gear bags!!!

good luck

I own a Petrol Pegz-2 and generally like it.  The only thing I really don't like is the clear plastic top that is just velcro attached at the two long ends.  Not the most secure for sure, and I think the product would be MUCH improved with a more secure attachment system for the clear window.  I'm sure there is a reason for this design, but it escapes me.  Not a deal breaker, just something that did not notice when buying and a little disappointed with.

I just posted a comment critical of the clear view top mounting for my Petrol Pegz-2.  Forgot about the snorkel--agree with Tonedeaf and Kevin on that too.  I have not lost anything out of mine....yet....
