iRiver h120 power draw rating???
« on: January 29, 2010, 10:09:34 AM »
anyone know the power draw for the iRiver h120. i want to buy a  new batt, and trying to figure out how big to go. except for festivals once or twice a year, I usually dont tape more than 3-5 hours of music a night.

I believe its mah (divided by) power draw (multiplied by) 0.7????

Anyone know the exact power draw. I googled but cant seem to find....

I would say don't worry about this and just go for one of the bigger ones (around 2200 mA). Not that much more expensive and when it starts to lose its capacity it will provide 5 or more hours of record time for a longer period of time than a 1300 mA one would. I'm sure a new 1300 mA one would provide way over 5 hours of record time, though, if you want to go that route.

Can't confirm your question on size.... but I have this other thing rattling around in the back of mind, not positive I'm right...  Make sure you get one that is for an iRiver, and not for an iPod.  They look identical, but +/- wires are backwards on the iPod ones.  Yes, you could cut and solder the connector on the other way, but why bother.

The 2200's fit in there fine.

right on Joe, thanks so much! I think I may pick this one up:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-for-iRiver-H110-H120-H140-H320-H340-I600-75_W0QQitemZ270511797752QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item3efbc275f8#ht_1275wt_735

Just a caveat, there has been reports here (use the search function) that cheap no-name ebay batteries have "popped" inside irivers, ie swollen up.
Also, you can't really trust the stated mAh, unless someone else tested this particular dealer.

I'd top up another $3 and buy a reputable Cameron Sino from a know-good seller:

That's what I've done and have had good success with them.

I just bought a 1-2G iPod Cameron Sino labelled 2200mA battery from 'likwaiw' and it was in a Xcell retail package, which I have been seeing more and more lately on ebay.  If you do get one that is not a CS or Xcell labelled battery, can you tell us what you got and how good of a charge it holds after a few cycles?
