Topic: having trouble dithering.....

so, I'm using Audacity to track up a show. I usually run my iRiver so im usually working with 16/44.1. I borrowed an R4, and It looks like the recorded file is 48k. I want to Dither it down to 44.1.

I switch the Project Rate box in the bottom left corner to 44.1, and in the drop down menu on the actual track I select 44.1 from the "Set Rate" option. This has been resulting in Audacity stretching the actual wave form, and the music sounding slowed down. How can I fix this. Also, I tracked this out before I dithered, should I not have done this???

I think all you need to do is set the project rate in the lower left corner, then do export wav and it will convert the file to the desired rate.  Been a while since I've used Audacity though.

Dithering post tracking just means more work.

you are resampleing not dithering

He's in a dither over resampling.
