ESI Rekord M - another small 16/44 recorder
« on: May 28, 2010, 06:18:48 PM »
This was announced back in January at NAMM, but hasn't got any mention here yet.
Nothing we haven't seen before, 16-bit, the mic-in is mono only(?!) and this unit doesn't even have a card slot. Put this next to a similar sized recorder like DR-08, and the choice is simple.

Street price in Europe seems to be 119 EUR. Not out in the US yet, but MSRP is $149.

Anyway, some specs just for the record...

I'd be interest in hearing what owners have to say about it, but I certainly wouldn't want to be the first one on this board to try it when the already proven Tascam DR-07 can be gotten for around the same price. i bought a Zoom H2 before I read reviews by users and I will never make that mistake again.

I wouldn't count on too many tapers buying this because of what sanjay said: the input is mono and it only does 16 bit.
this would appeal to classroom and courtroom lectures.
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

I didn't read that. Then it's of no use to serious tapers at all. Also price now seems really high since its mono.
