Thanks absnj (and everyone else). I'm actually using a ruler right now but it just seemed like that was the crappy way to go. I most def need a shockmount though. I like how that last guy did it with s/m'ing the whole ruler, though that seems like it wouldn't hold side to side and would fall out.
Alright I'm gonna give it a shot. Anyone suggest a better config than DIN for an outdoor venue?
I assume you're talking about mine. I still use the same setup. I painted it black and swapped the rubber bands for elastic ponytail holders. I still clip to the ruler. I've been using DIN because I'd have to trim the corners of the ruler for ORTF and haven't gotten around to it. My tapes have been sounding pretty good, so I've been using it everywhere. I've taped in crowded venues, outdoors in the wind, and never had any problems with the ruler moving.
I started out with the ruler threaded directly to the top of the stand. After two shows, I made the shockmount because of all the stand bumps. It has worked very well.
Yep, that's yours alright. Thanks for the great idea! Flight leaves tonight so I gotta finish this baby.
I'm using a wooden ruler and stand bumping, yes threaded straight to the stand tip, has been an issue several times. I also bought some hair ties, the long ones like entire head type that are rubberized....perfect. My erector set pieces are painted black, I have it all planned out. Next is to cut the ruler and assemble it all.
can I ask how long the ruler is on the shorter length? I guess for DIN it should just be 20 cm to the center of the CAPSULES (right?). just wanna get it perfect ya know?
