EdirolHR09 short file write problem
« on: August 22, 2010, 05:53:04 PM »
Hi all,

I own a edirolhr09 with about 250 shows recorded on it. Have the setting so it writes a file in 24/96 for each 1 gb.

So if I run the edirol for 2 hrs it should have file R001 in 24/96 at 1 gb, recently the edirol will write many files at various random lenghts.

Ex:
Roo1 1056kb
R002 2056 kb
R003 1078 Kb
....

Sometimes now I get a 100 R00... files for a 2 hour show. Last night I had a 109 R00... files for 166 minutes show. The files write continuously but they are not a GB then write the next file.

I replaced the 16 GB card in the edirol and it seemed to fix the problem or at least the files were close to a GB.

Does anyone have an idea what is going on here?
THanks in advance.

Patrick

There is an option to allow you to manually split the files on the fly - is it possible you have this turned on and are inadvertantly hitting the play button to split the file?  Have you tested it out at home to see if it does it when simply sitting on the table?

Hey vanark,

I ran the edirol with the internal mics today for 2.5 hours and it wrote the correct files all at 1gb except the last file that was not the full 37 minutes. Then I ran it with the DPA -> Little Box preamp -> edirol and it worked fine. Same test run about 2.5 hours and it wrote them all correctly at a 1gb.

I stealth with a small bag and I have a small flashlight and ear plug container and it presses toward the edirol so it could be a possiblity.

I checked the edirolhR09 manual and setting and could not find where you can set that " option to allow you to manually split the files on the fly" that you say.

Do you know where it is on the edirol or what screen? Or anyone? Is this one of the hidden menus?
Thanks again.
