CD->WAV->Combine Wav's->retrack->flac
« on: September 30, 2010, 10:20:32 PM »

It's been a long time since I have had only one source for a show that was an audio CD (and really, there is only one single master DAT, and due to tech limits the only way for me to get this copy was a CD...and this is a long sought after show for me...I'm ecstatic to get it..*thanks john!*).

I have extracted the wav files with EAC.  Now, I need to join them together to to re-track the show just a bit (CDWav).  What is currently the best way to do this for free?  Windows or Linux tools are fine.  I see some posts here, but I'm looking for the easiest and most generally accepted tool for 2010.  I don't know what that is these days.

I use Reaper for a DAW, but I haven't figured out how to join files consistently without a "pop" with that tool.  An option, if anyone has advice to help me do it right.

Many thanks in advance,

--Michael

there should be a setting in EAC to extract as just 1 large wav file

I use wavemerge (not wavemerger) to do this.  simple, fast and it works in windows 7.  a quick google search only shows a dead link on etree.  I can sendspace it if needed.  seems that foobar does it as well.  I use foobar for all kinds of stuff but never this.  from a old post

Foobar 2000, a very versatile free program that a lot of us use for one thing or another, will do it easily.

Load the files to be joined into Foobar (you can even join a bunch of them at once).
Highlight the files to be joined.
Right click and select "Convert" then "Convert to Single file".

good to know (thanks!)...not disclosed in my first post, but the show is two CD's.  so, i still have at least one split.

I never thought of foobar for "seamless no pops" concatenation of wav files, but if it works...I'm game to try.

If the wavemerge license allows, I'll gladly take it. PM me or post here...thanks!

wavemerge was free, hasn't been updated in years if ever but it still works ;)   only works for 16bit but since it's a cd source you're good.

pretty sure I had to run in compatibility mode in windows 7.  right click on exe > properties > compatibility > xp
