Schoeps KCY FET current draw?
« on: January 18, 2011, 08:30:36 AM »
Does anybody know the current draw on the 6.1V lead (FET Voltage) of the Schoeps KCY cable (with caps obviously)?

So looking at the Schematic of the KC5 and BC264 JFET (the FET inside the KC5) it looks like it's 10mA with a max of 12mA - so for 2 (KCY) it would be 20-24mA max

Does this make sense?

From my experience, 10mA seems too high and would be hard to power, a problem common to microphones like earthworks (that also draw 10mA). Not saying that it couldn't be 10mA, but it feels too high.

10mA at 6.1 V not 48V
