cda files?

I'm trying to compress a cd to FLAC, and my system is reading the disc as .cda files.  I'm sure it's something in my default settings, but can someone tell me how to get my computer to read the disc as .wav files?

.cda's aren't really "files", per se, but how your computer sees audio on a CD... You need to extract the audio from the CD using something like EAC (exactaudiocopy.de), and then use FLAC to compress the WAVs.

this is the way to go, all audio cd's are written as .cda files, extract them to wav with EAC and no worries my man

yup, agreed.  eac is so easy to use..to be sure tho follow instructions on etree's site for setting it up.

I have EAC, but my CD-ROM drive is broken, and it won't recognize my external Plextor burner.  I've been using Feurio! to rip, but it rips as .cda??

try checking your settings in feurio, it shouldnt rip to cda, it should be wav

You should only be using EAC to rip an audio CD, especially if you'll be distributing these FLAC files.
