Preamp for studio Project C4mics ( for sony pcm-m10)
« on: December 15, 2011, 06:31:13 PM »
Hey Folks .First time here. It looks prof. Im recording on my hiking tours in nature.
I can buy a pair of Studio Project C4 here in Denmark, Specs:

Studio Projects C4 MKI, matched pair - studio quality stereo microphone system, modular design, interchangeable capsules (omni, cardioid, hyper-cardioid), thomann switchable -10/20dB pad/hi-pass filter (75HZ or 150Hz), transformerless output, frequency response: 40Hz-20kHz, output impedance: <200ohms, sensitivity: 12m V/Pa, max SPL: 150dB, color: silver

Will Naiants Littlebox be dooing the job to amplify to m10 and what cables shoud I use?. Can I buy Littbox in Europe?
Yours Flemming

Yes, buy the littlebox - if still available. There are only a few left.

The simplest and even cheaper option is a Denecke PS/2 power supply that you can buy at SoundProfessionals.com terminated to a stereo miniplug. You'll have to get gain from the recorder - meaning you plug it in MIC-in generally, unlike a preamp - but it certainly works, is small, and runs on 1 9V batt.

The Naiant unit is much higher quality and is what I would try to get first, however.

Either can be shipped to Denmark.

Hope that helps.

I run Avantone CK-1 > Denecke PS-2 > M10 as my primary rig. The Sony preamp is nice. For amplified shows, my M10 is set with gain around 2 on the low setting.

Here are some shows I've recorded with my M10, shows after September are with the Denecke PS-2.

not on archive yet, but here is last nights show with Beth Fleenor  on clarinet and Trey Gunn (King Crimson) on Warr Guitar.
