recording disapeared Korg MR-1
« on: November 20, 2011, 12:31:52 PM »
So last night I recorded Donna the Buffalo. I came home listened to the show. Low level on the house system VIA korg mr-1 -> USB -> PC -> AMP. Then later disconnected the korg from the PC and plugged in my sennheiser  head phones directly to the korg and listened to many different section of the show. It sounded great I was surprised and very happy with the recording!!! So this a.m. I go to transfer it from the machine and files one and 2 are not there??? However the the korg reads there is only 8.9 gigs left on the 20 gig drive. 8.9 gigs is the size of the two acts from last nights show. I reformatted prior to the show so I know anything on the unit is from last night. So my issue is when the Korg is connected to the computer it shows no files under DFF project or under any other folder for that matter. This the only time I've ever had any issue with this machine. Not good!! any help or advice would be great!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!

Try another USB cable, try another USB port on the computer, try another computer, make sure you have checked all the directories... WSD, DFF, WAV, etc.  If none of that works, run chkdisk on the drive.

I've not had problems with my Korg USB, but I have a well worn H120 I use for portable playback and sometimes I have to blow the dust out of the port, wiggle the cable etc, for it to connect.

ok so i copied the DFF folder with no files in it no txt nothing onto my PC. once on the PC the file still read empty. I then did a search for DFF 0001 and DFF0002and the search from the start menu produced the said (disappeared)  files and I'm rockin to the show right now!!!!! really one of the most unexplainable issues I've had in PC audio land. Thanks for any input the problem is solved..... I hope!

That's IT!
Thanks, jaz!
You have solved my (still unexplained) problem.
I had the middle of a Todd Rundgren show go missing, this way and I basically just shelved the deck until I could figure it out.
I tried everything, but today tried your search, and there it was, able to be copied.
Until I used spotlight (on a mac here) and told it to look only in the Korg, all I could find was files that read zero GB in size, but the search found them and I was able to copy them onto a different HD, then get the other files and put it all back together and ZOWIE!

Back in business.

Still don't know WHY, though.

;-)

once again, lost in all the noise
