there was talk in another thread that the bar shown may or may not be 100% correct in picture/size whole.
i forget the exact topic however if it is 5/8 as in the description you shouldn't need and adapter because the stand says it has a 5/8 reversible head
the image shown isn't a 5/8 whole in the bar though so i suggest waiting for others to reply or look for the thread from a couple of weeks ago talking about it

Can I ask why you are against using an adapter ??? My guess is that 95% of the tapers here
use and adapter of some sort.
The rapid adapter + a thread adapter into a t-bar is easy to set up/take down. It's feild tested and is essentially
one piece, meaning you can undo the rapid adapter and throw the whole top of the stand
in the bag with two twists of a wing nut.

It sure beats the round and round of will this work with this jive.
Bottom line is that two different people have ordered the same bar and gotten two different things.
So drop the extra $15 and get it done.

This.  In addition, using a rapid adapter will allow you to position the stereo bar and mics in any direction you want, independently of how you have the legs of the stand positioned.  IMO, it would be a pain in the ass to have your stand set up and then, after screwing the t-bar directly on the stud on top, having to rearrange the stand or turn one of the stand sections if your mics aren't positioned as you want/need them to be.

Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

RS beat me to it, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let my typing go to waste...  :P

because the stand says it has a 5/8 reversible head

That's not how I read the specs.  From my reading, the stand has a 5/8" male stud with a 3/8" male threaded tip and a 3/8" > 1/4" thread adapter.

Corey -- the t-bar's center thread is undetermined.  If the t-bar's center thread is 1/4" (unlikely) or 3/8" (likely), then you don't need an adapter.  If the t-bar's center thread is 5/8" (also likely), then you'll need one or more adapters.  Options:

1/4" male to 5/8" male adapter
or
3/8" male to 5/8" male adapter
or
5/8" female stud with 3/8" male thread > 3/8" to 5/8" thread adapter

Np7 and FCB are correct -- your best option is the rapid adapter with thread adapter.  Assuming the t-bar has a 3/8" or 5/8" thread (the two most likely possibilities), to be safe you would need:

+
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/284333-REG/Manfrotto_MIBA_Female_3_8_to_5_8_.html

That's about $15.  You could save $5 by buying cheaper brands.  Search B&H for 'rapid adapter' and '3/8" 5/8" adapter' and you'll find the less expensive options.

My Manfrotto extension 099b uses the same 5/8 Stud on the top as the Stand in question...I use the 3/8 to 5/8 Barrel Adapter to mate to standard Microphone accessories

The 5/8 Stud is what Photo equipment uses there are NO threads on it (except for a top 3/8 thread section)...an example is the female bottom end of a Manfrotto extension 099b that accepts that 5/8 stud and a screw on the side of the 099b to tighten it.
