what is needed from the lineout on the recording unit...... is it better to go through a laptop or an iphone...... could someone give me a step by step instructional guide for each....

The ADC and processing in current gen smartphones blows comparatively.

I use a Digi out of my SD744 into a laptop via an old VX pocket. 

To get out to the Internet I use a Verizon Hotspot or the venue wireless if available.

Works great, obviously not low profile . . .
