Not a good idea. Because the foam gets fused and then does not make a great transparent foam for mics.

Thats why some companies use a lathe to spin the windscreens into shape.

The other method is the blown method. When compressed air is used to force hot foam extruded into shape. With out fusing the foam.

When we had to cut foam for custom cases we used an electric carving knife.  The kind with the two blades.  Works pretty well but then again we were using it on large pieces not small detail work. YMMV
