I have a manfrotto 3362.  It's a good stand, but only 8ft tall.  Looking for a decent 12 footer.  Any new ones or used ones you recommend?
The side stage is my rigs main stage.

You could try a Manfrotto 1004BAC.  Pretty lightweight and fairly compact folded.  The top will sway a bit when fully extended if it gets bumped, though...

There are a ton of light stands on ebay.  There is a particular brand a few people have gotten... name is Dynatran or something like that.  They are a beast... big and heavy, but solid as a rock, and cheap... less than $50.

The Manfrotto 1004BAC is what I've been using, has worked great for me so far. $89.95 at B&H right now. I've got a few good pics from a recent Wilco show that give you a good idea what it looks like in action if you want me to send them to you. Agree, it's pretty lightweight and compact for a 12' stand and easy to setup and take down and I've found it to be pretty stable. Haven't had anyone give it a good bump yet though (knock on wood). Usually try to tape the legs down with gaffers tape just in case...

I'll tell you what NOT to buy. The cheap stands on ebay. I got a deal[so I thought] on ebay and for 2 12' stands I paid $53.00/Shipped. They are useless IMO. Aftwer not even 2 festivals, they failed on me. The knobs get stripped and dont work now. So basically I wasted $53.00 :P Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $$ and get a Manfrotto or something name brand ;)
