What is a safe and easy program to download to make md5 files?

xACT for mac. There are a few for PC, but "Traders Little Helper" seems pretty popular.

+1 for TLH on the PC platform. I've been using it for years. Great for doing FLAC encodes, MD5's, FFP, WAV info, etc.
