i was simply just trying to figure out if the mics could handle such loudness on stage...

yep, that's where I was headed with my Q. Best of luck.

My mics can absolutely handle on stage recording with a 9v battery box or preamp that provides 9v for plug in power. Upon reflection I now realized that's what you were trying to get at. Sorry about that.

so mics into recorder wouldnt be good then for onstage? you would have to def run with a pre?

You must use a battery box as the very least. You need 9v for my mics running plug in power on stage is not a good idea.
You do not necessarily need a preamp. Because the sound pressure will already be pretty high and you should not need a ton of gain.

I used them at Charlie Hunter in Ottawa, CA-14s stage lip (no monitors, just guitar amp and drum kit, a couple of feet away) > CA-9100 (cranked) > MD (line-in):

I also ran my usual big rig, Oktava MC-012s further back in the audience area > UA-5 > JB3:

I've used them up close to a big horn section and up close to a jazz quartet (in really small clubs, without PAs) and liked the results a lot a lot.

Aloha,
Brad
