Marantz PMD-670 bit rate change - HELP!

I used this last night for the 1st time and it recorded at 16/48. I thought it would take 24/28 but, the menu doesn't let you change the bit rate just sample rate.

It looks like I can't change the bit rate to 24bit. I believe the deck it built like this but, It says in the manual 24bit.
Maybe I am an idiot but, i can't find out how to change the bit rate from 16bit to 24bit.

It will record at 48kHz but the bit rate is 16bit not 24bit.

Thoughts?

The 670 only records in 16 bit you would need the 671 to do 24 bit!
