CA-14 stand mounting

I did my own variation on the "clip to a ruler" setup for my CA-14s.  I got a long aluminum ruler from Harbor Frieght for about 3 bucks, and used my aviation snips to cut a 17cm DIN-A/ORTF mount and another 20cm DIN mount.  The shockmount has the added benefit of letting you rotate the ruler to angle the mics up or down if necessary.

Nice work! I love the simplicity of your setup. I have been using a wooden ruler wing-nutted to my stand for a long time, but I like the idea of isolating the mics from the stand with the shockmount. Thanks for sharing.

My mics always sound better with a boundary between them. Like a Jecklin disk. If you can work that into your stand mount that would be good.

Even the cards?  I thought that a Jecklin is only used with omnis, but if you say so I'll give it a shot.  I have a bunch of 3" eggcrate foam that might work for this.

I'd also be interested in your opinion of the sound I got the way I used them - I haven't seen many other classical recordings posted here using your mics.

I'm not sure how much isolation that shockmount gave me - you can see from the pics that the inside diameter is barely larger than the width of the ruler I wound up using.  But once I replaced the awful included elastic with hair ties, it holds the ruler at whatever up/down angle I set it at which is really nice.

Looks like a good not expensive bulit gear! I should have done one, but so rarely have chance for open taping... and probably I couldn't gather the right parts like you did.. once I just taped my mics on my video camera tripod, ehh.
